Doug is a fourth grade teacher at PS 295 in Park Slope Brooklyn, a mile away from where he lives with his husband and daughter. A NYC public school teacher since 2002, Doug became a founding member of the Proud Teacher Initiative in 2013 and has been a Queer role model at his school ever since. In addition to coming out to his students each year, he also returns to his High School in CT every fall as a participant in Live Out Loud's Homecoming Project where he talks to current students about his experiences growing up and what his life has been like since. He sees both of these opportunities as an essential way to make an intersection of Queer identity more visible to today's youth.
